A Letter from Our Founder, Alessandra

Welcome to FIG SHOP!

I’ve always been a huge advocate for vintage and secondhand. I started my first consignment project when I was 14, collecting clothes from kids at school and bringing them to charity shops along my local London high street - helping keep clothing out of waste streams and getting it into the hands of people who could use it.

Since then, I’ve continued sourcing and selling clothes on and off for the past ten years. Now, I’m finally building a space of my own.

FIG SHOP was born from a moment in my family’s garden in Astoria, Queens.

When my grandfather immigrated to New York City, he planted a fig tree in the family garden. As I’ve grown, I’ve watched that tree flourish, producing an abundance of figs each summer. Every fig feels like a little gift - beautiful in its own way.

My dream is for FIG SHOP to grow in much the same way: to plant roots, extend branches, and create a sense of beauty and abundance for everyone who visits.

Most of what you’ll find at FIG SHOP has been sourced in places I’ve called home - New York City, Italy, and the UK - though I like to wander, so sometimes I pick things up along the way.

FIG SHOP is a place to find clothes I genuinely love: pieces that feel fun, thoughtful, and well made. I try to source natural fibers wherever possible, with a focus on design, quality, and forgotten or overlooked brands. My hope is to give these pieces a second life and connect them with people who will keep, wear and love them well.

Beyond the clothes, FIG SHOP is about creating new ways to shop together. We host unique shopping experiences, partner with interesting businesses, and are building something that feels more communal, local, and connected.

Recent partnerships have included a communal shopping experience at Superfly on the Upper West Side and a brand-new flea market at Threes Brewing in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

There’s so much more to come.

We hope to connect with you IRL soon. Visit our Pop-Ups page to find our next event - or browse the Collection if you can’t wait until then.

See you soon,
Alessandra
